Fulfilling a promise made years ago to my sarangi teacher in Pune, I finally got to see Aruna Narayan last weekend!

Hi. I will be traveling to Pune to study Sanskrit this summer with the American Institute of Indian Studies. I wanted to know if you could put me in touch with your teacher, who may know someone. Thank you!

Hi Harpreet,

Unfortunately, I have learned that my teacher, Pt. Madhukar Khadilkar, has passed on two years back. However, if you are looking for a particular musician or instrument, you may wish to contact the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, a classical Hindustani music organization. Their website is gandharvapune.com. Best of luck, and let me know what happens!

Hi Sarah,

Thank you for your quick response. I neglected to mention that I want to learn the dilruba. I appreciate the link to the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. I will contact them.

Best wishes,

Harpreet

Bahoot achaa. Harpreet, please feel free to contact me at my email, gemsandpurls (at) gmail (dot) com. I'm not sure where you are in the US (I'm assuming you're in the US if you're studying through the AIIS), and I may be able to help you find a teacher here so you can continue lessons once you get back.
